What a Kaer credit buys, and what happens when you run out

One credit is one cent of work. Here is what each plan includes, why Core gets more than it costs, what uses credits up, and exactly what happens at zero, which is not a surprise bill.

Kaer bills in credits, and one credit is one cent of work. A plan is a monthly allowance of them; everything the agent does draws from it; and when it runs out, work pauses rather than your card being charged. The rest of this post is the detail.

One credit$0.01100 credits to the dollar.
Core$15Per month, for 1,500 credits.
Extra pack$101,000 credits, at face value.
At zeroPauseNever a surprise charge.

What each plan includes

Starter is free, with 2 messages every week. The paid plans each include a monthly allowance of credits, and the yearly column is the per-month price when you pay once a year, which is 12.5% less.

PlanMonthlyYearly, per monthCredits a monthWorth
Kaer Now$7.99$7.99800$8
Core$15$13.131,500$15
Pro$43$37.634,300$43
Max$99$86.639,900$99

Look at the last column. Core includes $15 of credits for $15: the entry plan is where the bonus sits. The larger plans include their price in credits, and buy you higher limits and more parallel work on top.

What uses credits

Credits are spent by the work itself, according to how long the agent runs and how complex the job is. A one-line answer costs very little; a job that researches, drafts, opens a browser and runs for a while costs more. Kaer prices the work, not the login: self-serve plans are one person's workspace, and teams that need several seats and volume pricing go through Enterprise.

When you need more

Two ways. You can move up a plan at any time, and the upgrade takes effect immediately with the difference prorated; a downgrade is made in the billing portal, which shows when it takes effect. Or you can keep your plan and add packs: 1,000 credits for $10 a month each, up to 50. Packs are sold at face value. The bonus lives in the plan allowance, not in the packs.

What happens at zero

When your balance runs out, work pauses. It does not continue on credit, and usage never bills your card.

From there, it waits until your allowance renews at the start of the next cycle, or until you add prepaid credit. If you would rather it did not pause, turn on automatic top-up: it buys a fixed amount when your balance drops below a threshold you choose, and never more than a monthly cap you also choose.

One more rule: unused plan credits do not roll over. Your plan allowance resets at the start of each cycle, so a quiet month is not banked. Credits you top up are different: they stay on your balance until you use them, and your plan credits are always spent first.

Trying it first

New accounts are offered a 7-day Kaer Now trial with $2 of credits, so you can try the paid product properly before paying for it. You do not need a card to sign up and use the free plan. Current prices, and any offers running now, are on the pricing page.

Building on the API instead?

The developer API at api.kaer.ai has its own prepaid balance, separate from any plan. API usage never draws down plan credits, and plan credits never pay for an API key. What the search endpoints cost is in what a web search API should cost in 2026.

Frequently asked questions

How much is one Kaer credit worth?

One cent. 100 credits are a dollar of work.

Do unused credits roll over?

Plan credits don't: each plan's allowance renews at the start of every billing cycle rather than accumulating. Credits you top up do: they stay on your balance until you use them, and your plan credits are always spent first.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Usage pauses until your credits renew or you add prepaid credit. If you turn on automatic top-up, it buys a fixed amount when your balance falls below a threshold you set, within a monthly cap you also set. Usage itself never bills your card.

Are Kaer app credits the same as the Kaer API balance?

No. The developer API at api.kaer.ai has its own prepaid balance. API usage never draws down plan credits, and plan credits never pay for an API key.
