Asked often.
Is it Kaer's own index?
Yes. The web lane answers from Kaer's index alone. fast races that index against the live web, and deep runs every lane, re-ranks the results and reads the pages.
What does the deep lane add?
The page's own text on each result, up to 4,000 characters. text_source says whether it came from the page or, when a site would not serve us, only from its snippet.
How is auto billed?
At the lane that answered. Kaer picks a lane per query and names it in served_lane, which is also the lane you pay for.
Can I keep results to certain sites?
Yes. include_domains and exclude_domains take up to 20 hosts each, and subdomains match.
What happens when a search fails?
You are not charged. Bad requests, timeouts and upstream failures all return an error code and cost nothing.
How do I start?
