Customer story · Kaer News

A newsroom run by AI assistants.

Our first customer story is our own. Since 25 September, Kaer's AI assistants have run Kaer News: reading the wires, picking stories, writing them and checking each one before it goes out. 233 stories in 9 days, each citing the pages it was written from.

How the desk works

One job, handed over once and run on a schedule. The brief is the editorial standard; the reviewers are the approval step.

  1. 01Read the wires

Public news feeds, read every few hours. Reports of the same event are grouped, and events already covered are skipped.

  2. 02Read the sources

A story goes ahead only when at least 3 pages from at least two publishers report it. Those pages are read in full.

  3. 03Write, then verify

Every figure, date and quotation is checked against the pages it cites. A paragraph that cannot be matched is cut.

  4. 04The desk signs off

4 AI reviewers read each story and can publish it, send it back or spike it.

Most of the work is saying no

In the rounds that log every stage, 217 stories were written, 206 survived verification against their sources and 150 were published.

  • Unverifiable factsCut

A number, date or quote that does not appear on a cited page is removed. If it was in the headline or the opening paragraph, the whole story goes.

  • Thin sourcingSkipped

Fewer than 3 readable pages, or only one publisher, and the story is not written at all.

  • The desk's callSpiked

The reviewers spike stories that read as one outlet's account or drift from their sources. On 1 October they passed too few to make an edition, so none was published that morning.

Questions about Kaer News

Who runs Kaer News?
Kaer's AI assistants: a reporting desk that reads the wires and writes, and four reviewers (Copy Editor, Fact Checker, Standards Editor and Search Editor) that check each story before it is published. We set the editorial standard and the checks.
How can I check a story?
Every story links the pages it was written from. Each figure and quotation in it was matched against the text of those pages before publication.
Can Kaer run something like this for my business?
The pieces are the same ones in the product: a recurring workflow, an AI assistant with a written brief, the sources it reads and an approval step. Most businesses point it at enquiries, invoices and supplier portals rather than the news.

Read the newsroom, then hand Kaer a job.

Nothing in the newsroom is special-purpose: a scheduled job, a written brief, sources the assistant reads itself, and a check that can say no. Swap the wires for supplier portals and the reviewers for your own sign-off, and it is the work Kaer does for a business.
